Pre-Conference Interactive Workshop: 7th July 2009

1.00pm - 5.00pm Building Resilience: Defending Buildings & Protecting Occupants Against CBR Incidents

Led by Jeff Charlton FBDMA, MBCI, IDRisks, Member of the Emergency Planning Society CBRN Professional Working Group.

This workshop will provoke alarm and debate as delegate teams are placed under difficult scenarios and asked to respond. The venue will be under attack from a variety of terrorist CBR activities and delegate teams will realise just how varied and wrong most response plans are as they attack or defend each other.

The various short but dynamic scenarios are interspersed with best practice logic presentations to assist delegates in future development of defence and response planning. Many current beliefs will be destroyed as we show how resilience and perhaps company survival must be developed from within the business.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Vulnerabilities
  • Scenario exercise 20 minutes group
  • Anthrax mail event
  • 30 minute CBR scenario exercise
  • CBR event building defence (how to develop a safe haven)
  • CBR evacuation problems
  • CBR decontamination insurance and costs and what to do
  • Emergency response teams (ERT) and resilience on emergency service
